Understanding Tension Neck Syndrome

Updated: Apr 24, 2019

When you sit in the same position for a long period of time the body develops painful and creaky debilitating conditions that interfere with your ability to work and enjoy life outside the office. It’s commonly known as Tension Neck Syndrome. It’s a fairly common problem, which is caused by various factors. Your neck contains flexible muscles that support the weight of your head. Tension neck syndrome often causes fatigue, stiffness in the neck, neck pain or a headache. This condition is mostly found in the workplace because of postural instability, bad ergonomics and remaining stationary in one location for a long amount of time.

If employees in a workplace or people at home spend long periods of time talking over the phone or sitting at a desk, there is a possibility that they could begin to suffer from Tension Neck Syndrome. Providing employees with headsets, phone cradles, and other phone accessories can take away the need for them to bend their necks to the side for long hours every day. With these activities one can always avoid Tension neck syndrome but if it persists one must consult a doctor right away.
